Description Aeration spears

In variable harvest years, grain is often stored with too much residual moisture. As a result, heat can build up in certain zones and increase the risk of spoilage. The aeration spear by Jansen&Heuning is specifically designed to address this quickly and effectively. The spear can be used as a complementary tool alongside existing aeration systems, but also functions as a stand-alone solution for cooling and drying grain. It combines practical usability with solid technical performance and is suitable for use in both silos and flat storage.

How does the aeration spear work?

The video below provides a visual explanation of how the spear operates in practice.

Test results from official Danish research institute

  • The spear can cool approximately 100 tons of grain per position
  • At a distance of 3 metres, the aeration level remains 30 m³ of air per hour per m²
  • In a silo of 7.5 metres high, it was shown that after 22 hours the temperature dropped from 18 °C to 17 °C at the top, and from 28 °C to 20 °C at the bottom. This confirms that heavier cold air descends and pushes warmer air upwards.

Why choose this aeration spear?

  • Effective in critical zones where temperature and moisture exceed safe thresholds
  • Increases grain storage effectiveness and helps prevent loss of quality
  • Can be used with or without fixed aeration systems – fully modular in application
  • Proven airflow and performance based on controlled testing

Specifications aeration spear
