Grain storage maintenance is essential to maintain grain quality and extend the life of a grain silo. The first few months of the new year are perfect for testing your grain silo and associated conveyor systems. This way, you won’t face any nasty surprises in the summer and there will be enough time to carry out any repairs or replacements.
The points below are important when maintaining your grain storage:
- Check the silo for wear, leaks or corrosion
- Remove old grain residue, dust and dirt
- Check and test electronic components (safety systems, power box)
- Test and check associated conveying and aeration systems, such as belt conveyors, conveyor chains, elevators, chutes, augers and fans.
