Screw conveyors

Invented by Archimedes and still essential in bulk handling today: the screw conveyor! This transport screw is a versatile bulk conveyor available in both standard and custom configurations.

The screw conveyor is a closed system for controlled transport of bulk materials over short to medium distances. Inside a tube or trough, a rotating auger moves the material, driven by a geared motor. Horizontal, inclined, or vertical transport is possible, with one or multiple inlets and outlets.

Thanks to its enclosed design, the screw conveyor provides a dust-free solution, suitable for applications involving dosing, mixing, cooling, or heating. By adding a dosing screw, precise material feed is achieved. This system is commonly used in sectors such as the food industry, chemicals, and recycling.

For processes requiring simultaneous mixing during transport, a continuous mixer offers a suitable alternative. When bulk material needs to be transferred to silos or transshipment systems, a bulk truck loader (or “bulker”) serves as an efficient addition to the screw conveyor setup.

About Jansen&Heuning

Jansen&Heuning has been manufacturing installations for storage and bulk handling since 1901. Creative solutions for bulk handling are designed and built in The Netherlands and installed all over the world. Key success factors are our in-house engineering, dedicated employees and down-to-earth approach. We think along with our customers and come up with reliable standard products and professional, custom-made solutions.

more about us

Jansen&Heuning produces screw conveyors for many products like flour, grain, salt, fertilizer, protein, waste products etc. For special applications like sticky products, shaft-less blade screws are used. Available as a U-trough or pipe screw for horizontal, sloping or vertical transport.

Screw-flights

  • in St. 37, manganese steel, stainless steel, etc
  • with central shaft or shaft-less
  • pipe diameter depending on length and bending limits of the screw pipe

Bearing

  • intermediate bearing required for longer screw conveyors, several possibilities:
    – self adjusting ball bearings and lubricant return conduit
    – split ball bearing bronze slide bearing
    – cast iron slide bearing
  • external end bearing with stuffing box seals
  • end shafts welded or with flange connection

Options

    • paint system at customer’s choice or hot dip galvanization
    • trough in Steel 37, stainless steel, manganese steel etc.
    • covers secured with fasteners or bolts
    • available systems: RPM monitoring, overflow prevention etc.

The JH calculation program enables you to calculate the costs of a conveying system for your specific situation. Fill in the required fields with your own data and the program will calculate the costs of the conveying system that best suits your needs.

The table shows our standard program. The drawings in production can be given within a few hours which, of course, works on the price. Do you want what we have not done before: no problem. We will work out with you.
