Description Screw conveyor

The screw conveyor by Jansen&Heuning – also known as an auger conveyor – enables controlled transport of dry or slightly moist bulk materials through a closed system. The installation supports horizontal, inclined, and vertical conveying. Due to its modular design, custom dimensions, and material choices (carbon steel, stainless steel, or wear-resistant steel), each version is tailored to the product, process, and operating environment. Cover options include quick-release clamps or bolted lids.

Jansen&Heuning supplies screw conveyors for a wide range of industries, including food processing, chemicals, recycling, mineral handling, and agriculture. For sticky or cohesive materials, a shaftless screw conveyor with ribbon design is available. Screw conveyors come in various diameters and capacities.

Operation screw conveyor

The screw conveyor consists of a rotating spiral that moves the product forward inside a closed trough or tube. The transport speed and fill level together determine the total capacity. The enclosed design prevents dust emission. Conveying is possible in both directions, with multiple inlet and outlet positions. A screw conveyor can also be used for dosing or mixing bulk materials.

Depending on the conveying length and material type, intermediate bearings may be required. These include sliding bearings (bronze or cast iron), split ball bearings, or systems with a grease return line. End bearings are mounted externally and equipped with stuffing box seals. The drive unit is either directly coupled or flange-mounted.

Advantages of the Screw Conveyor

  • Suitable for horizontal and slightly inclined conveying of bulk materials
  • Continuous transport with a steady product flow
  • Handles wet or sticky materials
  • Low maintenance requirement with proper configuration
  • Space-saving installation with tubular or trough design
  • Multiple material options: steel, stainless steel, wear-resistant steel
  • Applicable for dosing, conveying or mixing
  • Modular design, easy to expand

Optional Features

  • Hot-dip galvanized or coated surface
  • Quick-release or bolted cover lids
  • Rotation guard, overflow sensor and inspection hatches
  • Shaftless screw for cohesive or poorly flowing materials
