oktober 2010Innovation Award for new FIBC

Jansen & Heuning has won the Process Innovation Award 2010 for their new FIBC for bulk goods. CEO Jur Lommerts received this award as winner of the public election of 5 nominations out of 26 participators during the Industrial Processing exhibition at Utrecht - The Netherlands.

This FIBC is designed to be handled without any manual operation. Lashes are replaced by cords, which are connected to the filling spout. The best way to understand this patented construction is to have a look at the video below.

The Process Innovation Awards are an initiative of the branch organisation for machinery for chemical and food Machevo, together with publisher VNU Exhibitions.

september 2010Together on the Move

Bulk handling is a wide specialism, although there are some traps. It is an art to avoid these and that can be established with the correct knowledge. Therefore we invest in knowledge all the time.

Recently our salesmen and engineers followed a course in ATEX and CE. We also started a project with the University of Technology Twente, who support us to define and record the specialized knowledge.   Walking Dunes

september 2010Improved “Bigbag”

Nominated for the Process Innovation Award 2010

“Bigbags” (official: Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) are ideal for bulk handling. Simple, they are cheap, flexible, easy to handle and can be transported by anyone. But they have a drawback: It is hard to fill it for the first time. Someone has to hang up the annoying loops and funnel. Jansen & Heuning found a solution for this.

Automatic handling of Bulk Containers. We have thought out a new type FIBC, which is completely automatic to handle. The four loops are replaced by strings which come together at the filling mouth.
By picking up the filling mouth, the strings and the filling mouth will unfold automatically, thereby creating enough space to put in the forks of the fork lift and pick the FIBC up on its strings.

Vote for us!
With this invention we attend the Process Innovation Award 2010 at the Industrial Trade Show in Utrecht. Do you think we should deserve this award? Than vote on us via www.industrialprocessing.nl. Unfortunately this website is only available in Dutch.

In the movie below Jur Lommerts explains in Dutch why Jansen & Heuning deserves the Process Innovation Price 2010 and the functioning of the new FIBC is shown.

september 2010Drying Barley

Silos and dryerHolland Malt is a modern malt house of Bavaria and Agrifirm located at the Eemshaven. Malt – the raw material of beer – consists of germinated and dried barley. However the Barley from the North of the Netherlands is to moist to store it safely. That’s why Holland Malt ordered a complete installation with silos and dryer. Last September the 23rd the installation was festively taken into operation.

september 2010Giga Grain storage

a 1.350 ton capacity grain silo for storage of fodder for broilersAt the Cooperation Jacobs-Migielsen in Woensdrecht we installed a 1.350 ton capacity grain silo for storage of fodder for broilers. The silo is filled via an over ground level filling pit, a bucket elevator and a chain conveyor with capacity of 60 tons/hour. The emptying is done by 2 screw conveyors from which the last one will feed a bucket elevator which feeds the grain in a small hopper. This hopper is attached to an automatic feeding system.

maart 2010Lunch Time for mechanic Erwin Horlings in Dubai

Erwin Horlings in Dubai with Azit en SabudErwin is in charge of the build up of 8 chain conveyors in Dubai. There is a huge aluminum factory being build in the middle of the desert. By e-mail he told us:

Meet the new staff of Jansen & Heuning: Azit and Sabud. Azit is a 45 year old mechanic from India who speaks English fairly good. Sabud is his assistant who turned out to be a very good mechanic and welder(which nobody knew). He is 23 years old and originally from Bangladesh. Because the canteen is to far for me to travel too, they brought me an Indian lunch. And that means you have to eat with your hands. I had some grease from a bearing on my hands but that couldn’t spoil the fun.

greetings from the desert. Erwin.

october 2009Keep innovating!

Keep innovating! We believe that innovation is the key to surviving any crisis. That is why we keep investing in new equipment. Such as our new CNC plasma cutting machine that can handle plates up to 30 mm thickness and a pressbrake witch supplies a pressure of 1.800 kN.

october 2009Dry grain for Agrifirm Delfzijl

Dry grain for Agrifirm DelfzijlTraditionally, the province Groningen has always been an area of grain cultivation. The cooperation Agrifirm receives, stores, dries and cleans the grain for her members. This happens in different establishments among which is Delfzijl. Over the years the capacity of the drier became insufficient. We supplied two new driers with strainers with a capacity of 25 tons/hour, a couple of chain conveyors and readjusted the existing installation. Long before the harvesting of the grain everything was installed and fully functional. Although the nice summer made sure the new equipment hasn’t seen a lot of action yet.

october 2009Sweet bulk handling

Sweet bulk handlingAfter the closing of one of two sugar factories in Groningen, the silo in the Eemshaven needed an option for the filling of trucks. We supplied and installed screw conveyors, elevators and silo’s. Food safety and explosion prevention both played an important part. Although we like the taste of sugar, it is a troublesome product for conveyors. It’s very explosive and highly abrasive.

october 2009Large and modern grain storage

Large and modern grain storageFor agricultural company Noordam in Borgsweer we implemented a grain storage facility with a capacity of 1.100 tons and an intake of 80 tons/hour. The storage is filled with a chain conveyor with electrical outlets. A round silo with a leaning base acts as a buffer for the continues flow drier. This drier has a capacity of 7 tons/hour. The installation is automatically controlled by a PLC with touch screen. If a malfunction may occur Mr. Noordam receives a message on his mobile phone that there’s something wrong.

october 2009Lightweight conveyors

Lightweight conveyorsTree bark is quickly becoming popular as a soil improvement component in potting soil and substrates used in the horticultural industry. Slingerland build a installation for breaking, filtering and sorting the tree bark. We supplied the bulk conveyors for this project. The non-movable frames of the belt conveyors were constructed using lightweight galvanized steel plates. This substantially reduced the weight so the roof of the greenhouses, on which the conveyors were mounted, does not have to deal with a lot of extra weight.

july 2009Ultra durable conveyors for Alstom Norway

Ultra durable conveyors for Alstom NorwayAlstom Norway is participating in the build up of a large aluminum factory in the United Emirates. They choose Jansen & Heuning as supplier of eight chain conveyors who are going to be used in the so called “crushed bath”. This is the slag that resurfaces during electrolysis. The conveyors will be exposed to extreme abrasion. That is why the insides of the conveyors are coated with basalt. This greatly expands the lifespan.

july 2009Lump free fodder for IAMS

Lump free fodder for IAMSIAMS (part of Proctor and Gamble), situated in Coevorden, is producer of a great variety of pet animal fodder. Quality is always very important when it comes to production. For instance: the compressed fodder should not contain any coagulated parts. To prevent this, Jansen & Heuning installed a Mogensen strainer installation supplied by IP-Handling.

july 2009Garbage elevator for Aldel

Garbage elevator for AldelAldel, a modern aluminum processing factory from Delfzijl, needed a sturdy belt conveyor for steep vertical transport. The belt conveyor will be used for the transport of waste that will be recycled. Our collar belt proved to be the most practical solution.

july 2009Quick switching of asphalt production process

Quick switching of asphalt production processCostumers keep asking for higher quality when it comes to asphalt. There is also an increasing demand in different variations of asphalt. This increases the complexity of the production process. Asfalt Productie Hoogblokland (APH), part of KWS, is one of the largest and modern asphalt production factories in the Netherlands. They wanted to improve the transport of raw materials to the asphalt blender. The result: a number of silo’s and chain conveyors, supplied by Jansen & Heuning, to take care of the adding process fully automatic.

july 2009Meet Dirk-Jan Dunsbergen, production manager

Meet Dirk-Jan Dunsbergen, production managerYoung, enthusiastic and driven: those are the words that best describe Dirk-Jan Dunsbergen (right). After a brief introduction in the sales department he now is head of the production department of Jansen & Heuning. He does this together with head of purchasing/planning employee Josias Pormes (left). Because our employees have al lot of own responsibility, being head of production mainly means: making sure that everybody can do their job properly.

Since the sixties Jansen & Heuning produces Pick Up Units for potatoes and onions. These standard machines are sold all over the world, especially in Eastern Europe.

pick up unitsThe year 2007 was very good in terms of turn over, but 2008 was even better. Our machines are in spite of the long life time still up to date thanks to our effective production and on going improvement.

September 29, 2008Siberian Freezing Order

Jansen & Heuning received the order for renovation and automation of a part of a steel factory. The specialty about this order is: the order came from Siberia...

Siberisch koude order

Hearing the word Siberia makes everybody think of cold. In Winter time that's right, but in Summer it can be very hot there. We did not get this order very easily. Two years of negotiations and designing and no less than 15 proposals were needed to convince the customer of his own needs and our know how. This order gives us the opportunity to express our skills and experience totally. And this cold? Nice orders are always giving us warm feelings.

September 28, 2008Kremer Seeds : fully automatic process by new logistic concept

That old family run companies are still able to invent and improve shows Kremer Seeds. Even more at night the production continues while Kremer and his men are asleep.

Kremer Zaden: onbemand proces door nieuwe logistieke aanpakKremer Seeds specialises in cleaning of exotic seeds from far away countries. This fast growing entity is a customer of Jansen & Heuning for more than 50 years. Second generation Jan Kremer is now the CEO.

Seeds are taken in 30 m³ containers and Kremer wanted to handle this lot undivided. A pallet truck transports the special made silos. The design and construction of this silos was made by Jansen & Heuning. Of course Jan Kremer has put his creativity in the design.

December 27, 2007Massive order from AKZO Nobel

The AKZO Nobel salt factories keep expanding on a high rate in Hengelo. Jansen & Heuning has implemented this task to renovate a number of large bulk conveyors, all with bulk bridges.

The factory was  available to the operation for just six days. Exactly these are the projects in which Jansen & Heuning is able to use its great experience and can show the possibilities by preparation and working accurately.

May 5, 2006 Volume Measuring System for largest tunnel digging machine

tunnel MadridAt Madrid a tunnel is being digged with a diameter of 15 meters.
This Tunnel Digging Machine is the biggest one ever build. For controlling the speed of the forward movement one needs to know the exact volume of the digged material. The Volume Measuring System of Jansen & Heuning has an accuracy of 0,5%.

Tunnel Digging MachineThe machine has started digging this 5 kilometer long tunnel.
This means about 1.500.000 cbm of soil has to be digged and conveyed.
